Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, and landscape artist, Burle Marx, designed one of the largest parks in São Paulo. The Municipal Theatre was established in 1911 and has had performances by famous national and international artists such as Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Anna Pavlowa and Baryshnikov. With its luxurious decoration and modern equipment the Municipal Theatre remains one of the highlights of the cultural life of São Paulo.

Liberdade

The Japanese immigration to Brazil began in the early twentieth century. Currently, Brazil is home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan and most of them are in Liberdade neighbourhood. On Saturday s and Sundays, happens a traditional fair which offers typical food and souvenir shops.
